dominated last night’s annual Robert film awards ceremony in Copenhagen, winning seven statuettes, including Best Film, Director and Screenplay.

The most internationally renowned Danish filmmaker already won three Best Film Roberts, in 1984 (Element of Crime), 1991 (Europa) and 1997 (Breaking the Waves), but this was the first time he scooped up that many statuettes from the Danish Film Academy for a single film.

Following Charlotte Gainsbourg’s Best Actress prize in Cannes, the film’s DoP Anthony Dod Mantle, editor Anders Refn, sound designer Kristian Eidnes Andersen and special effects specialists Peter Hjorth and Ota Bares were also awarded for their work on the horror film.

Niels MalmrosAching Hearts, which had the most nominations (18), ended up winning three technical awards: for Make-up (Malin Birch-Jensen & Karina Åse), Production Design (Søren Krag Sørensen and Finn Richardt) and Costumes (Anne-Dorte Fischer).

Lars Mikkelsen and Henning Moritzen won Best Actor and Best Supporting Actor respectively for Rumle Hammerich’s thriller Headhunter, and Paprika Steen a Best Actress nod for her stunning performance in Martin Zandvlet’s debut film Applause [+see also:

Other major Robert awards went to Pernille Valletin, Best Supporting Actress in Ole Bornedal’s Deliver Us from Evil [+see also:

; From Haifa to Nørrebro by Omar Shargawi won Best Feature-Length Documentary Film; Best Children’s and Youth Film went to Birger Larsen’s Super Brother [+see also:

; and Julie Bille’s Bobby picked up Best Feature-Length Fiction/Animation Film.

Denmark’s biggest local hit of 2009, What Goes Around by Anders Matthesen, naturally won the Audience award, animated title Up won Best US Film of the Year, and Oscar winner Slumdog Millionaire [+see also:
