The team at French sales company Memento Films International have returned to Paris with smiles on their faces after striking successful deals at the Berlinale’s European Film Market.

was bought for the United States (IFC Films), France (Sophie Dulac Distribution), the United Kingdom (New Wave Films), Spain (Golem), Sweden (Folkets Bio ), Benelux (Cinemien/ABC), Israel, Korea, Taiwan and Argentina. Negotiations are also at an advanced stage for Norway, Switzerland and Italy.

The second title in competition at Berlin, Burhan Qurbani’s German production Faith [+see also:

, which will be distributed in France by Memento, was bought for Benelux by Imagine, for Austria by Polyfilm and for Switzerland by Filmcoopi. Negotiations are also well underway for Italy, the United Kingdom, the United States and Portugal.

Among the titles in post-production, Julie Bertucelli’s The Tree (see news) was sold for Portugal (Atalanta Filmes), Greece (Nutopia), Israel, Taiwan, Hong Kong, the Middle East and Brazil; while Gilles Marchand’s French/Belgian co-production Black Heaven (see news) was bought for Germany (Koch Media), Greece (PCV), Benelux (O’Brother), Russia, Turkey, Israel, the Middle East, Hong Kong and Taiwan.

Produced by France’s Haut et Court in co-production with Film 4, the feature, which will start shooting in April and star Ethan Hawke and Kristin Scott Thomas, has been pre-bought for the United Kingdom (Artificial Eye), Scandinavia (Svensk AB), Greece (Nutopia), Turkey, the Middle East, Israel, Singapore, Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Vietnam and Taiwan.
