New Digital Alfie pilot launched by peacefulfish

Berlin-based peacefulfish has launched the Digital Alfie project, co-financed by the EU’s MEDIA Programme.

Digital Alfie aims to use digital technologies to enrich the cinema-going experience and is strongly rooted in the digitalization of cinema screens and the digital distribution of films and other content. The initiative supports theatrical exhibitors in finding ways to use social media – in particular online communities – to explore what types of content their local audiences would most prefer to experience theatrically.

Once this is established, the project assists exhibitors in developing business models to deliver interactivity and selected content to their communities using digital means.

The consortium consists of social media and cutting edge web factory AF83, cinema and hospitality software developer SiTec, mobile marketing agency MobilEvent and content management and delivery company GlobeCast. As well as eight cinemas across Europe: Avignon Capitole Studios (France), BioRex Cinemas (Finland), Schauburg Karlsruhe and Cinema Munich (Germany), Movieplexx Braunau and Funplexxx Kufstein (Austria) and the UK’s Uckfield Picture House and Hawkhurst Kino Digital.
