Week's new films span from Norway to Italy

A rather disparate selection of new releases is hitting German theatres today, including a few local titles and two highly interesting European films from the North and South of the continent.

, produced by Norway’s Paradox Spillefilm, traces the experiences of a man who is released from prison after serving time for infanticide. Hired as an organist in a church, he soon falls in love with a single mother and tries to erase his murderous past by playing the role of father, but the past catches up with him.

The film, sold internationally by German seller Bavaria Film International, is being released in Germany by Kool.

Meanwhile, Movienet is launching Tuscan director Paolo Virzì’s Italian comedy Her Whole Life Ahead [+see also:

, in which two very different girls, one a philosophy student and the other a call-centre employee, are confronted with the harsh realities of the working world. This film stars Isabella Ragonese, Elio Germano and Valerio Mastandrea.

First up among the new German releases is Anne Linsel and Rainer Hoffmann’s documentary Tanzträume - Jugendliche Tanzen Kontakthof von Pina Bausch. Produced by Tag/Traum and distributed by RealFiction, the film focuses on a show organised by the late, well-known choreographer.

Falcom is launching Norbert Baumgarten’s Mensch Kotschie. Co-produced by Berlin-based companies Junifilm and Koppfilm, the film recounts the difficult mid-life crisis of an architect by the name of Jürgen Kotschie (Stefan Kurt).

Finally, Delphi is releasing the documentary Die 4. Revolution - Energy Autonomy, directed and produced by Carl Fechner, who transports us to 11 countries to meet activists looking for solutions to the energy and climate crisis.
