Scott’s Robin Hood to open festival

Ridley Scott’s US/UK co-production Robin Hood will open the 63rd Cannes Film Festival (May 12-23, 2010), out of competition. The film stars Russell Crowe and Cate Blanchett, alongside Danish actor Max Von Sydow and French actress Léa Seydoux.

Produced by Universal and Imagine Entertainment on the US side, Robin Hood was co-produced by Scott’s company Scott Free Enterprises. The UK director returns to the Croisette where he won the Jury Prize for Best Debut Film in 1977 for The Duellists (selected in competition) and presented Thelma and Louise out of competition in 1991.

Robin Hood will be launched in French theatres on the day of its Cannes screening and released internationally on May 14.
