Heights, Kevin, Chalet awarded UKFC production funds

The UK Film Council (UKFC) has revealed its last round of funding awards made prior to its new £15 million fund kicking off.

Andrea Arnold’s Wuthering Heights for Ecosse Films has received £300,000, and is co-financed by Film4, Goldcrest and Screen Yorkshire. Artificial Eye acquired UK rights from HanWay Films, who are responsible for worldwide sales.

We Need to Talk About Kevin,written and directed by Lynne Ramsay (Ratcatcher), is produced by Jennifer Fox, Independent’s Luc Roeg and Bob Salerno, developed by BBC Films and is supported by the UKFC to the tune of £700,000.

Chalet Girl, directed by Phil Traill from an original screenplay by Tom Williams and produced by Pippa Cross and Harriet Rees, has been awarded £800,000. It is a UKFC presentation in association with Aegis Film Fund, Prescience and Metropolis and in association with FilmFernsehFonds Bayern, Deutscher Filmförderfonds, BKM, Cine Tirol and the Austrian Film Institute and Vienna Film Fund. It was developed with support from Screen South. Momentum Pictures will handle UK distribution, and Metropolis International Sales will be handling worldwide sales.

Actor Paddy Considine’s directorial debut Tyrannosaur, which has been awarded £206,540, is a Warp X and Inflammable Films presentation, backed by the UKFC, Film4, Screen Yorkshire, Optimum Releasing, EM Media, Madman and Nonstop. International sales are being handled by Protagonist Pictures.

Writer/Director Zam Salim’s Laid Offhas been awarded £310,000 for production and £25,000 for development and is produced by Annalise Davis for Wilder Films, with additional backing from Scottish Screen and Eyeline Entertainment. Television rights have been acquired by the BBC.
