The path to the Golden Calf

- The 22nd edition of the Netherlands Film Festival starts on September 25. There’ll be 80 films

It’s all stations go for the 22nd edition of the Nederlands Film Festival . The event takes place in Utrecht from September 25 – October 4. There’ll be 80 films screened, most of which have never been published.
Apart from the films in competition, there’ll be a chance to see the latest work by Pietre Fleury Ramsès , about the singer, musician and actor Ramsès Shaffy. The film will be released in cinemas in Holland on October 17.
During the opening gala, the Dutch director Louis Van Gasteren , the author of at least 70 works made up of films and documentaries, will be given the Golden Calf Lifetime Achievement award by the Dutch Secretary of State for Culture, Cees van Leeuwen . At this year’s Nederlands Film Festival, the international jury wil lbe led by the producer Matthijs van Heijningen, and Pieter Verhoeff, who won the Best Film Golden Calf last year for his Nynke , will be the guest of honour.
At the event’s closing ceremony there’ll be a screening of the film by Hanny Abu-Assad, Rana’s Wedding which was already featured at the last Cannes Film Festival.
The festival programme also includes the Netherlands Film Platform which will ltake place between September 27 – 30. It’s a type of meeting place cum market where around a dozen Dutch produced films will be presented to foreign producers and financers interested in co-productions. On the opening day of the Film Platform there’ll be a seminar on co-productions, organised in collaboration with the Media Business School .
