- First German Film Festival in Australia, featuring The Experiment and Fritz Lang’s Metropolis

Das Experiment by Oliver Hirschbiegel will open the first ever German Film Festival of Australia, scheduled to take place in Melbourne from 12-24 September. It is one of seventeen recent German productions that will be showcased at this event organised by the Goethe Institut of Melbourne and Export Union of German Cinema, who have been organising similar events for some years now in London, Paris, Madrid, New York and Los Angeles.
The highlights include the screening of Fritz Lang’s classic silent film, Metropolis and a retrospective dedicated to Moritz Bleibtreu. The programme also includes Sandra Nettelbeck’s Bella Martha (Mostly Martha) and Black Box BRD, a documentary by Andreas Veiel that won the European Film Prize in 2001 and was Germany’s Best Documentary in 2002.
