Bertuccelli’s The Tree to close festival

Winner of last year’s Best Actress Award, Charlotte Gainsbourg will appear at this year’s 63rd Cannes Film Festival (May 12-23) in the closing film: Julie Bertuccelli’s The Tree (see news [+see also:

Co-produced by Australia (60%) and France (40%), this is the second feature by the director who first came to attention on the Croisette with Since Otar Left (Critics’ Week Grand Prize 2003). This English-language film adapted from Judy Pascoe’s novel Our Father Who Art in the Tree completes the official selection (see news) and will screen out of competition. The cast also includes Marton Csokas and Aden Young.

. Its €7.74m budget was raised thanks to co-production support from Arte France Cinéma, backing from Backup Films and private Italian fund Dorje Films, and a pre-acquisition from Canal +. Memento Films International is handling international sales.
