StudioCanal, Memento and EuropaCorp play their trump cards

Announcements of new projects continue to pour in at the Film Market at the 63rd Cannes Film Festival.

StudioCanal has announced the addition to its line-up of Special Forces, starring German actress Diane Kruger as a journalist who is kidnapped in Afghanistan by the Taliban. Produced by StudioCanal and Easy Company, the film will also feature Benoît Magimel.

Memento Films International has expanded its Cannes line-up (see news) with Malgorzata Szumowska’s French/German/Polish co-production Sponsoring (see news), whose cast is headed by Juliette Binoche.

Finally, EuropaCorp has unveiled Olivier Megaton’s project Colombiana, which will start shooting in August. Penned by Luc Besson and Robert Mark Kamen, the screenplay centres on a South American woman whose parents are murdered by hitmen. She later becomes a killer herself in a search for revenge.
