Folman, Doillon, Dumont and Lanners to get advance on receipts

by

Seven feature film screenplays were selected in May by the second advance on receipts committee of the National Film and Moving Image Centre (CNC).

These include animated project The Futurological Congress, the second feature by Israeli director Ari Folman, (Waltz With Bashir [+see also:

The pledge of an advance on receipts was also made to Jacques Doillon’s 26th narrative feature Un Enfant de Toi (“A Child By You”). Helmed by 4 A 4 Productions, the film centres on Aya and Louis, who have been separated for a long time and have a child, now aged seven.

Aya now lives with Victor, with whom she would like to have a child, and Louis shares his life with Gaëlle but isn’t really committed. However, during secret meetings organised by an insistent Aya, the flame is reignited between the two former lovers, not without causing rifts. Among the other projects chosen for an advance on receipts are Bruno Dumont’s L’Empire (see news3B Productions); Leos Carax’s Olly-X-Motors (produced by Theo Films); and Belgian director Bouli Lanners’s The Giants (produced on the French side by Haut et Court – see news).

Finally, the selection also includes two projects which don’t yet have backing from a production company: Jacques Deschamps’s Contes du Soleil Levant (“Tales of the Rising Sun”) and Laurent Bécue-Renard’s documentary La Trahison des Pères (“The Betrayal of Fathers”).
