Eastern Drift, Zero 2 top Silver Cranes

won Best Film, Best Director and Best Actress (Klaudija Koršunova) last Friday evening at Lithuania’s national Silver Crane awards ceremony held in Vilnius.

Barta’s thriller and first venture into mainstream filmmaking had it world premiere in the Forum sidebar of this year’s Berlinale. The film was produced by Lazannec Productions (France) in co-production with Bartas’ Studio Kinema (Lithuania) and Kino Bez Granic (Russia). World sales are handled by Umedia.

Emilis Velyvis’ crime thriller Zero 2 also won three Silver Cranes, for Best Script (Vėlyvis, Jonas Banys), Best Actors (Ramūnas Rudokas and Kęstutis Jakšta) and Best Score (Happyendless). The low-budget film produced by Kino Kultas had a record opening in Lithuania last January and was picked up for world sales by L.A.-based Epic Pictures.

Best Supporting Actress went to Dalia Storyk (Tomas Donela’s Farewell), Best Supporting Actor to Petras Lisauskas (Ramunė Čekuolytė-Che’s Jam Jar), Best Cinematography to Feliksas Abrukauskas (Lina Lužytė’ It Would be Splendid Yet and Žeraldas Povilaitis’ Wings of Goodness) and The River by Julija Gruodienė and Rimantas Gruodis scooped up Best Documentary Film.
