The film, directed by veteran filmmaker Rudolf van den Berg (Snapshots, The Cold Light of Day, The Johnsons), is a co-production between Cadenza Films (producer: Jeroen Koolbergen) and Fu Works (producer: San Fu Maltha), and was co-produced by Marina Blok for NTR and Flemish production company Prime Time (Antonino Lombardo). Very unusual for the Netherlands, the submitted film has not yet been screened domestically. It will open the Netherlands Film Festival on September 22, and will be released commercially by Independent Films on September 30 (the cutoff date for a film to be submitted this year for Oscar consideration).

Nominations for the Oscars will be announced on January 25, 2011. The awards ceremony is planned for February 27.
