by

A new, large studio suitable for film shoots with digital and 3D integration, modern offices and property departments, restaurants and a hotel. This is what is outlined in the development plan for Cinecittà Studios, which was approved on October 4 by the board of directors of Italian Entertainment Group, which controls 80% of the Roman studios, after an agreement with Cinecittà Luce, which owns the site and is a 20% shareholder in the company.

In a second phase, the plan is to construct a Cinema and Multimedia District, whose aim is to accommodate other companies in the sector, laboratories, training centres, production units and research centres. The District project will involve the construction of around 240,000 cubic metres of buildings, which will be able to accommodate about 150-200 small and medium-sized businesses, professional studios, training and research centres.

Since its privatisation in 1997, Cinecittà Studios has hosted 27 international productions, including Martin Scorsese’s Gangs of New York, Mel Gibson’s The Passion of the Christ, US television series Rome, Spike Lee’s Miracle at Saint Anna, as well as 40 Italian films and 40 Italian TV dramas.
