Woodward to take reins at Arts Alliance

John Woodward, who recently stepped down as Chief Executive of the soon to be defunct UK Film Council, will join European private equity company Arts Alliance as Managing Director in November.

Arts Alliance, which is part of the Norwegian shipping company Høegh, has multiple media interests and Woodward is expected to take charge of these. Chief amongst these is Arts Alliance Media (AAM), Europe’s leading provider of digital film distribution services, which has an installed network of 702 screens in its 2k digital cinema network and provides back office and theatre management systems software throughout Europe, Asia and Australia.

AAM has also mastered over 1,000 digital cinema films. For industry professionals, Arts Alliance Media has developed LOVEFiLM PRO to transport films, trailers and promo reels, via a secure digital network between producers, sales agents, distributors, exhibitors and festivals.

Other interests include blinkbox, Europe’s largest online only film and television entertainment company; City Screen, the UK’s largest independent cinema circuit screening specialised films; and LOVEFiLM International, the European market leader in online DVD rental with over 1,200,000 subscribers, and approximately 50% of all rental transactions in the UK, as well as strong market share in Germany, Sweden, Norway and Denmark.
