Gedeck walled in by Die Wand
The Austrian region of Salzkammergut will play host to the second leg of shooting on Die Wand ("The Wall"), the debut big-screen feature by established television director Julian Roman Pölsler. After the summer scenes, filmed between June 7 and September 12, the autumn and winter scenes will be shot between now and March.
Die Wand is co-produced by Vienna-based Coop 99 (known for its excellent auteur films) and Munich-based Starhaus Filmproduktion. It is adapted by the screenwriter-director from the best-seller by Austrian writer Marlen Haushofer (1920-1970), which is among the 50 most popular books in Germany and Austria, and has been translated into 17 languages.
It tells the story of a woman who wakes up one morning in a mountain chalet surrounded by an invisible wall with only a dog, a cow and a cat for company.
This challenging role is played by famous actress Martina Gedeck (The Lives of Others [+see also:

Die Wand is also co-produced by Bavarian Television (Bayerischen Rundfunk), ARTE and the ORF, with backing from the Austrian Film Institute, the Vienna Film Fund, Land OÖ Kultur, FFF Bavaria, German Federal Film Fund DFFF and Eurimages. It will be released next year through Kinowelt.
