London deals with Horrid Henry

) has commenced a seven-week shoot on London locations for Horrid Henry: The Movie, a 3D live-action movie based on Francesca Simon’s hugely successful children’s books.

Lucinda Whiteley has written the script that sees Horrid Henry waging a constant battle against the tyranny of adults. Newcomer Theo Stephenson plays the eponymous title character and the cast includes Anjelica Huston, Rebecca Front, Richard E Grant and Parminder Nagra.

The film is a co-production between Vertigo Films and Novel Entertainment, co-funded by the UK Film Council (UKFC), Aegis Film Fund and Prescience. Rupert Preston and Whiteley are producing, and Mike Watts, Allan Niblo, Tim Smith, Paul Brett and James Swarbrick are executive producers.

Mike Watts said, “To see Henry in real life and real 3D will be a huge thrill for everyone, not least the vast number of Horrid Henry fans who deserve nothing less than the best! This film aims to fulfil their expectations and more.”

, the UKFC is delighted to be supporting another 3D innovation from Vertigo Films. Horrid Henry is a classic character, much loved by its young audience, and we are pleased to be part of bringing him to the big screen in an exciting way.”

Vertigo will distribute the film in the UK in summer 2011 and international sales are being handled by Protagonist Pictures.
