Forés shoots English-language Animals for Escándalo Films
Having kicked off on October 18, shooting in Barcelona is almost halfway through on Marçal Forés’s debut feature Animals. The latest work by the director, who attracted attention with his shorts Friends Forever and Yeah! Yeah! Yeah!, is a teenage love story shot in English.
Animals is about discovering that first love. Its tragic consequences are the premise for a story in which different forces collide. On the one hand is the childhood world of the imagination and family protection; on the other are the adult world of reason and the discovery of sexual impulses.
The cast stars Brit actors Martin Freeman, Augustus Prew and Dimitri Leonidas and Spanish thesps Rosa Andreu and Oriol Pla.
Animals is the fifth feature made as part of the “Opera Prima” programme run by Barcelona-based producer Escándalo Films, in association with one of Spain’s most important film schools, ESCAC, which has fostered talents such as J.A. Bayona. Through this programme, the company helps directors who studied at the school to get their debut features produced.
So far, this programme has given rise to Roser Aguilar’s The Best Of Me [+see also:
