The long-awaited sci-fi spoof Iron Sky by Finland’s Timo Vuorensola is starting principal photography this week in Frankfurt. The Finnish/German/Australian co-production is raising the final pieces of its €6.8m production budget via Internet crowd funding.

Fans interested in seeing how the first few minutes of the film are made – from idea to script, storyboards, animatics, sound and visual effects – are invited to pay a minimum fee of one euro on the special web service Iron Sky Sneak Peek. So far, almost €1m have been raised via Internet crowd funding. Around 150,000 fans a week follow the project on the web.
