- During its second weekend on general release, Volle Maan by Johan Nijenhuis was seen by over 220,000 filmgoers and went “Platinum”

Volle Maan (Full Moon), the second feature by Dutch director, Johan Nijenhuis was released in Benelux on 10 October and has already outperformed his debut, Costa!, Holland’s number 1 film for 2001 that was seen by 750,000 people.
Distributed by Independent Film onto 89 screens more than 220,000 tickets were sold for Volle Maan during its second weekend out, winning it the prestigious ”Platinum Film” award presented by the Dutch Film Federation, the Netherlands Film Fund and the Netherlands Film Festival. The Platinum Award provides financial support for the theatrical exploitation of Dutch films that have passed the 200,000-mark in ticket sales. There is also a “Film d’Or” award (for films seen by 75,000 people) that this year went to Ja Zuster Nee Zuster (Yes, Sister, No, Sister) by Pieter Kramer and Oesters van Nam Kee (The Oysters of Nam Kee) by Pollo de Pimental.
