Aakeson receives Bergman Legacy

Danish screenwriter and novelist Kim Fupz Aakeson, 43, yesterday received the 2002 Ingmar Bergman Legacy at a special ceremony at Copenhagen University. When the world famous Swedish director received the Sonning Award in 1989, he decided to give it back to the Danish university to create a legacy and award. Past winners include Lars von Trier, Thomas Vinterberg and Susanne Bier. Aakeson co-wrote the screenplays of many of Denmark’s biggest box office hits such as Susanne Biers’ The Only One, Natasha Arthys’ dogmafilm And the dog is called..., Annette K. Olesen’s Minor Mishaps as well as her forthcoming Dogme#10, and last but not least, Jesper W. Nielsen’s OKAY which was nominated for the Nordic Council film award 2002.
