Cultural diversity

by

There still exists a lot of confusion and quite a number of national variations on the definition of “cultural diversity”. UNESCO has formulated a declaration and in October 2002, NGOs as well as government networks met in Cape Town to discuss “local, national and global strategies”.
A conference will be held 29th November in Copenhagen, organised by the Danish Center for Culture and Development (DCCD) in collaboration with the Danish UNESCO national commission with the aim to introduce, summarise and contribute to the further development of key aspects of the international and national discussions on cultural diversity.
The conference will involve key institutions that are presently actors in the effort for strengthening cultural diversity in the world. Participants will include representatives from cultural and artists institutions, media, politicians, business, NGOs.
This conference comes as a follow-up on a festival that DCCD organised in 1999 “Images of the World” which entirely focused on the effects of globalisation on Cultural Diversity.
Admittance to the conference is free and registration can be done online, before November 22nd.
