Jacques Toubon is president
Jacques Toubon is the new president of Eurimages, the European Council’s film co-production support fund. The French former minister for culture was elected unanimously on Tuesday 19 November to be the successor to Italian Gianni Massaro who resigned in October. Toubon has a two-year mandate.
One of the issues for Toubon’s immediate attention is to restore calm to Euroimages after Massaro’s brusque resignation because he found the bureaucracy and the disagreements between Eurimages adn the European Council too penalising.
Set up in 1988, Eurimages “promotes European cinema by encouraging the production and circulation of films, and cooperation between industry operators” and has 27 member-states.
