A New York Tribute

- New Spanish Cinema showcased at the Lincoln Center from 6-31 December with 31 films, an Alex de la Iglesia retrospective, a tribute to Nieto and the allure of Carmen Maura

The 11th edition of the Spanish Film Festival will take place at the Walter Reade Theatre in New York’s Lincoln Center from 6 - 26 December with a programme of 31 films: 24 features and 7 shorts.
Organised with the Lincoln Center Film Society, theCervantes Institute , the Spanish Ministries for Culture, and Foreign Trade, Spanish Cinema Now features a number of special guests including Carmen Maura, star of Alex de la Iglesia’s latest film, 800 Bullets. The review includes a retrospective of de la Iglesia’s work including El dia de la bestia, La Comunidad and Accion Mutante.
The programme will also feature a comprehensive showcase of recent Iberian titles like Manuel Gutiérrez Aragòn’s El caballero don Quijote, a film that premiered in Venice; Fernando Trueba’s El embrujo de Shanghai; Juan Carlo Fresnadillo’s Intacto; Javier Balaguer’s Solo mia and Patricia Ferriera’s El Alquimista Impaziente.
A special highlight of this event will be the live concert given by veteran composer, José Nieto, followed by an opportunity for the audience to meet and talk with him.
