PRODUCTION France

The EuropaCorp Phenomenon

by

Luc Besson and his production company, EuropaCorp are definitely flavour of the month in France.
EuropaCorp just won the Trophy of the Decade organised by international auditors Bain & Co., for the “best entrepreneurial enterprise of all the companies set up in the same year”. EuropaCorp reported an annual turnover of Euros 98 million in 2001 and the company has fast become a leading exponent of every aspect of the film industry, from pre-financing to distribution.
Luc Besson and his leading manager, Pierre-Ange Le Pogam’s next goal is to quote EuropaCorp on the stock exchange and thus transform the company into one of Europe’s leading and most powerful film companies, in a perfect position to compete with the best US studios.
EuropaCorp’s production plans are perfectly in line with the company’s ambitions: Morgan Freeman and Jet Li recently announced they were boarding Danny the Dog, to be directed by Louis Le Terrier, scheduled to go into production in the next few months. The film will be distributed in France by EuropaCorp who will also handle international sales. EuropaCorp’s latest production, Le Transporteur sold 520,000 tickets in France, with a US box office take of USDollars 24 million (Euros 24 million).
