5 million for distribution

- German Film Board earmarks funds for promotion & distribution, & modernising film theatres

During its fourth and last meeting for this year, the Committee of the German Federal Film Board, responsible for distribution and film theatre support, voted in favour of setting aside Euros 1.938.787 for film promotion; Euros 1.119.000 to help support theatrical distribution and euros 1.323.958 for the modernisation and maintenance of cinemas.
The projects that will benefit from distribution grants include Das fliegende Klassenzimmer by Tomy Wigand, which was assigned Euros 250,000; Anatomie 2 by Stefan Ruzowitzky – Euros 250.000; The Pianist by Roman Polanski – Euros 200.000; Goodbye Lenin by Wolfgang Becker – Euros 200.000; Fuehrer EX by Winfried Bonengel, Love the Hard Way by Peter Sehr each got Euros 50.000: Ten Minutes Older by Aki Kaurismäki, Victor Erice and Jim Jarmusch received Euros 40,000.
During the two-day meeting it was also decided that 29 theatrical exhibition companies would receive financial support in the form of interest-free loans for a total amount of Euros 1.323.958, which, the Film Board would like to see used to modernise and restructure film theatres.
