29/11/2002 - Denmark's pre-eminent production house enters the radio drama arena in conjunction with state broadcaster, DR

One of Denmark’s biggest production companies, Zentropa, has embarked on a new venture. In partnership with the Danish national broadcaster, DR (Denmark’s Radio), Zentropa is producing a series of plays for Danish radio entitled Alle har vi vaeret sma (We Have All Been Young). The series is scheduled to air before Christmas.
Initially DR’s head of Radio Drama, Mikkel Harder Munck-Hansen was not enthusiastic about sharing the production of this series with Zentropa, but he was delighted with the end result and indeed has already begun negotiating a new radio project with Zentropa. Peter Aalbeak-Jensen, Zentropa’s director is also very happy. In an interview with Danish daily newspaper “Politiken”, Jensen said that it is important for a big company like Zentropa to take on new and more challenging projects in order to grow and gain experience. Jensen feels that the advent of digital technology in radio, enabling people to listen to their favourite programmes whenever they want to, will contribute to making radio plays even more popular than in the past.
