- Nominations announced for the Nordic countries top film awards, featuring Lukas Moodysson, Susanne Bier and Jesper Nielsen

The Nordic lands have announced its various film award nominees for 2002.

Sweden’s top film prize and their equivalent of the Oscars, the Guldbagge Awards for 2002, will be presented on Monday 3 February at the Circus in Stockholm. Lukas Moodysson is the Academy’s frontrunner with six Guldbagge nominations for Lilja 4-ever [+see also:

in all of the major categories : best feature, director, original screenplay, best actor and actress and cinematography. Kjell Sundvall got five for Grabben i graven bredvid (The Guy In The Grave Next Door) and Richard Hobert four for Alle alskar Alice (Everyone Loves Alice).

The Danish Film Academy also announced its nominees for the 2002 Robert Prize. Susanne Bier’s Elsker dig for evigt [+see also:

(Open Hearts), produced by Vibeke Windelov for Zentropa Entertainment, and Jesper W. Nielsen’s Okay, produced by Angel Films’ Peter Bech lead the field with nine nominations each. The five runners in the best film race are Jeg er Dina (I am Dina) by Ole Bornedal, Halalabad Blues by Helle Ryslinge, At kende sandheden (Facing the Truth) by Nils Malmros, as well as the two above-mentioned titles. The winners will be announced on Sunday 2 February.

Each of the ten features produced in Finland in 2002 received at least one Jussi Award nomination. Haaveiden Keha (Blue Corner) by Matti Ijas topped the Finnish list with nine nominations and is one of four titles competing for the best feature Jussi of 2002. (The Man Without A Past) by Aki Kaurismaki (which received a total of seven nominations), Kuutamolla (Lovers & Leavers) by Aku Louhimies and Heimahatttu ja Vilttitossu (Hayflower and Quiltshoe) by Kaisa Rastimo. The Jussis will be prsented on Sunday 19 January.

The Norwegian equivalent of the Oscars is the Amanda award which is presented in August during Norway’s International Film Festival in Haugesund while Iceland’s Film & TV Academy gives out its national film awards in November.
