Eric Rochant’s latest feature, Resistantes, his seventh, is scheduled to go into production in April on location in Romania with a spectacular all-female international cast headed by Kristin Scott Thomas, Virginie Ledoyen, Marie Gillain and Cécile de France.
Rochant made a spectacular directorial debut in 1989 with Un monde sans pitié (A World Without Pity), winnning both the César and the Louis Delluc Award for best first film. And followed through with the critically acclaimed Aux yeux du monde, The Patriots and Anna Oz. In 2000, he decided to take a sabbatical from filmmaking.
Resistantes heralds Rochant’s return to filmmaking and his professional "divorce" from his habitual producer, Alain Rocca of Productions Lazennec, in favour of Georges Benayoun’s Natan Films. Rochant cast a number of Europe’s best known actresses in Resistantes including the UK’s Kristin Scott Thomas (Gosford ParkAux yeux du monde, France’s Virginie Ledoyen (( Women) and Belgium’s Marie Gillain ( L’appât) and Cécile de France (L’auberge espagnole).
