UK sends 76

- The UK's is the 2nd largest contingent at the Berlin Event that numbers 500 filmmakers. Meetings with Ken Adams and Nik Powell

76 British up-and-coming filmmakers are going to take part in the Talent Campus scheduled to take place on 10-14 February during the 53 Berlin Film Festival, who organised this event in partnership with the UKFilm Council and the Berlin-Brandeburg Filmboard.
A total of 500 filmmakers from 61 countries will take part in this exclusive Master School, and only Germany has more candidates (150) than the UK. The US is sending 32, Spain 21 and France 16.
A Film Council spokesman said: “The fact that the UK has twice as many candidates selected as other key territories shows that UK talent tend to have a higher recognition abroad than in the UK itself”.
The UK professionals scheduled to take part in the various workshops, discussions and case studies are Ken Adam, the two-time Oscar winning production designer of The Madness of King George (1995) and Barry Lyndon (1976), as well as numerous “Bond” films. Adam will be the guest speaker at a debate scheduled to take place after the screening of a documentary about his career entitled War Rooms and Volcanoes. Ken Adams-Film Sets Are Forever and produced by Plenio Filmproduktion.
Veteran UK film producer Nik Powell will give a lesson in damage control: “Bankruptcy and Resurrection”, with fellow European producers Rainer Kölmel and Cedomir Kolar.
