Nino Manfredi to play Garcìa Lorca

by

After El verdugo, veteran Italian actor Nino Manfredi has signed on to play Spanish poet Garcìa Lorca in La Luz prodigiosa directed by Miguel Hermoso. The film is based on the novel by Fernando Marìas.
This film will be a paen to love and solidarity. In 1936, a young shepherd who can neither read nor write comes across a dying man in the fields outside Granada and carries him to safety. The man was the victim of an execution squad that failed to finish him off. Fast-forward to 1976 when the shepherd, played by Alfredo Landa, returns to Granada and discovers that the man he saved in 1936 (Nino Manfredi) has become a homeless street person. The shepherd begins to suspect the man is none other than poet and writer Garcìa Lorca whose allegedly executed body was never found.
The film is produced by Azalea Producciones and Canal Sur.
