by Susanne Bier will vie for a Golden Globe statuette for Best Foreign Language Film in Hollywood on January 26. Bier’s selection by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association is a positive sign for the drama that is representing Denmark in the upcoming Academy Awards nomination race.

In a Better World is the second biggest Danish film of 2010, with over 412,000 admissions. The film will have its US launch at the Sundance Film Festival’s Spotlight sidebar early January, ahead of its national release via Sony Pictures Classics in March 2011. The Zentropa production has sold to over 30 territories and won several international awards, include Best Direction and Best Script at the Seville Film Festival last month.
