Glass Tiger 3 aims for box office heights

by

Produced by Filmpartners and launched yesterday in Hungarian theatres by Szuez Film, Péter Rudolf’s cult comedy Glass Tiger 3 will try to lift the spirits of a national film industry in turmoil (see news).

In 2001, the first instalment attracted over 130,000 viewers, while the second part garnered 310,000 admissions in 2006 (one of the highest scores of the past decade for a domestic film). Once again, the cast includes the director, Gábor Reviczky, Sándor Gáspár, József Szarvas, Lajos Otto Horvath and Imre Csuja.

Co-scripted by Rudolf, Gábor Olivér Búss and Hilda Harsing, Glass Tiger 3 centres on Lali (played by the director), who leaves his provincial sandwich shop (called Glass Tiger) and finds himself thrust into the life of a well-known Budapest lawyer. The latter takes over from him in the shop.

How will Lali manage to survive in the capital and delude people in this new profession? And what will happen when his friends come looking for him in Budapest to help him out of this situation?

Produced like the first two instalments by Gábor Kovács and Agi Pataki for Filmpartners, Glass Tiger 3 had a budget of €1.1m. With this feature, Filmpartners maintains an interesting strategic balance between commercial titles and arthouse films, for the company produced Szabolcs Hajdu’s latest two features (White Palms [+see also:
