Scripted by the director, the film is adapted from Alfred de Musset’s same-named 1836 novel in which the poet describes the three stormy years he spent with writer George Sand, through the love affair of fictional alter egos Octave and Brigitte.

Produced by Bruno Berthemy for Paris-based Les Films du Veyrier, The Confession of a Child of the Century has received co-production support from Germany’s Integral Film, UK-based Wrap Films and Rhône-Alpes Cinéma, pre-acquisitions from Canal + and CinéCinéma, and €245,000 in funding as part of the Franco-German co-production mini-treaty.

The eight-week shoot will take place in the Paris region, Ain (January 14-29), and then in Germany. The film will be released theatrically by Ad Vitam in France and Farbfilm in Germany, while negotiations are at an advanced stage with Soda Pictures for the United Kingdom. International sales will be managed by Wild Bunch.
