07/02/2003 - Roberta Torre's film is one of six original versions distributed by Optimum, and airing on BBC4's Discoveries Series

UK art-house distribution company, Optimum Releasing, and BBC4 (the BBC’s cultural digital channel) have teamed up to boost the distribution of foreign language films in the UK.
To supply content for a new film programme called ‘Discoveries’, the two partners agreed to share the costs of buying six films from around the world annually,to release them theatrically during the summer prior to releasing the films onto the homevideo market, and then airing them on BBC4.
The six annual ‘Discoveries’ will be selected from new films by first-time directors and more experienced filmmakers who are relatively unknown in the UK. The first three acquisitions are Italy’s Angela [+see also:

In order to give all titles the best chance to reach the widest possible audience, the organisers of the Edinburgh International Film Festival will serve as artistic consultants, bringing their unique experience in film selection and marketing of world cinema to the ‘Discoveries’ programme.
Commenting on this new initiative, Optimum Releasing’s MD,Will Clarke said: “This is a great collaborative opportunity and I believe it will represent a significant increase in the number of foreign language films brought to British audiences.
