10th Rome IFF hosts new wave of directors

The 2011 Rome Independent Film Festival (March 18-25) will celebrate its tenth anniversary “of independence” with new Italian films and the best of foreign production. The festival, whose attendance figures have grown year after year, will present approximately 150 debut films and national and international premieres, confirming its position as the top showcase of independent cinema in Italy.

, from the Zurich Film Festival; and Christopher Roth, a psychological thriller by Max Sender, starring Anna Galiena, Joaquim de Almeida and Ben Gazzara.

The international jury of the 2011 RIFF Awards 2011 comprises Italian producer Gianluca Arcopinto, Kurdish-Iranian director Fariborz Kamkari (The Flowers of Kirkuk [+see also:

), filmmmaker Cinzia TH Torrini, director of Anilogue International Animation Festival Liszka Tamás, and actress Valentina Carnelutti.

The festival will also offer numerous workshops and seminars, the European Forum of Independent Producers related to Producers on the Move and an event dedicated to the US network of women’s cinema, Women Make Movies (WMM).
