UFA on its way to Santiago de Compostela with Kerkeling

by

UFA Cinema has bought the rights to comedian Hans-Peter Kerkeling aka Hape Kerkeling’s best-seller "I’m Off Then: Losing and Finding Myself on the Camino de Santiago" (originally entitled: "Ich Bin Dann Mal Weg"), with the intention of producing an adaptation.

The book is inspired by the journey from Saint-Jean-Pied-de-Port to Santiago de Compostela that the actor, also famous for the many comic characters he has played on television, undertook in 2001.

This travel journal, published in June 2006, sold over 4m copies. For over 100 weeks, it stayed at the top of Der Spiegel’s best German non-fiction best-sellers list and has been translated into English, French, Spanish, Italian, Dutch and Polish. One of the book’s main attractions is the way it relates a rich collection of quirky conversations with all sorts of other pilgrims.
