Besson, Ozon, Tavernier cross the Channel

Organised by Unifrance, the Rendez Vous With French Cinema will open in London on Wednesday and run until March 20. Six films will screen in UK avant-premiere in the English capital at the Curzon Soho, Ciné Lumière and BFI Southbank before the event continues in Scotland, at Edinburgh’s FilmHouse.

A delegation of artists will head to the UK to support the initiative, including film directors Luc Besson, Roselyne Bosch, Fred Cavayé, François Ozon, Katell Quillévéré and Bertrand Tavernier, and actors Mélanie Thierry and Gaspard Ulliel.

In the United Kingdom in 2010, French-language films achieved their best score for the past five years with 1.63m admissions (+45% compared to 2009). The 43 French productions released theatrically there last year attracted a total of 2.57m viewers (an average result in comparison with previous years).
