film profile]) as a woman who has forgotten 12 years of her life and tries to find out why, with only four days to make up for her mistakes and regain her family’s love. The cast also includes Mathieu Kassovitz (soon to be seen in his film Rebellion) and Aure Atika (Skylab).
Written by Testud in collaboration with Claire Lemaréchal based on Frédérique Deghelt’s homonymous novel, Another Woman's Life opens one summer evening in 1989: Marie celebrates her 29th birthday, falls in love with Paul Speranski and spends the night with him. When she wakes up the next morning, her lover appears to be running away and she doesn’t recognise anything, neither the bedroom nor the little boy’s voice calling her mummy behind the door.
Marie has woken up 12 years later. What has happened? Has she deliberately forgotten 12 years of her life? Has this black hole emerged to release her from a straitjacket too difficult to shake off?
Marie discovers she has a son, a privileged social status and is in the middle of a divorce. She strikes fear into those close to her and realises she has used the authority she has gained over the years against her family. And she has woken up at the start of a love affair that is ending…
Produced by Emmanuel Jacquelin for Dialogues Films in partnership with Michèle Halberstadt and Laurent Pétin for ARP Sélection (as executive co-producers), Another Woman's Life also has co-production support from Numéro 4 Productions, Luxembourg’s PTD (Paul Thilges Distributions) and Belgium’s Saga Film, as well as pre-acquisitions from Canal + and Ciné Cinéma.
Shooting will take place until April 27 in Luxembourg, the South of France, Paris and Belgium, with lensing by DoP Thierry Arbogast. French distribution will be handled by ARP and international sales by Kinology.
