A Hungarian in Paris

Les Harmonies Werckmeister, the third feature by Hungarian director, Béla Tarr is released onto 10 French screens today, 19 February, by Pierre Grise Distribution. The film first saw the light at the 2000 edition of Directors’ Fortnight in Cannes.
Although Tarr is not well-known by the general public, he has an excellent - and well-deserved reputation as a filmmaker with critics. The reviews for Les Harmonies Werckmeister which stars Hanna Schygulla and Lars Rudolph are excellent with major articles in all leading French daily newspapers. Tarr shot this pan-European co-production by Marseille-based 13 Production, Germany’s Von Vietinghoff Filmproduktion and Hungary’s Goëss Film, as well as TV channels Arte France Cinéma, ZDF, Italy’s Rai 3, Hungary’s Magyar Filmunió and Germany’s Studio Babelsberg.
