Rohrwacher, Mastandrea fall in love for Soldini
Alba Rohrwacher and Valerio Mastandrea will star in Silvio Soldini’s latest project, Il comandante e la cicogna (“The Commander and the Stork”), a comedy that will go into production in September.
Rohrwacher (who last worked with Soldini in What More Do I Want [+see also:
film profile], alongside Pierfrancesco Favino) plays Diana, a young but poor artist full of ideas, while Mastandrea is Leo, a plumber bringing up two kids.
They meet in the office of a powerful and dishonest lawyer, where she is being paid peanuts to painting a wall in his waiting room, and he is seeking help for his daughter, who has unwittingly become the star of an erotic Internet video. The two perfect strangers fall in love.
Following Days and Clouds [+see also:

Il comandante e la cicogna will be distributed in Italy by Warner Bros. Pictures and co-produced with France and Switzerland. The ensemble cast will also include Giuseppe Battiston (who has worked often with Soldini ever since 2000’s Bread and Tulips).
