won this year’s Oscar for Best Foreign-Language Film, has started principal photography for her first romantic comedy in 12 years, All You Need Is Love. After locations in Southern Italy, the film will shoot in Copenhagen.

Irish actor Pierce Brosnan and Danish actress Trine Dyrholm lead the cast of the €5.5 million (DKK 41 million) Zentropa production. Very Bond-unlike, Brosnan plays a businessman with an eye for lemons and vegetables, while Dyrholm is a cancer-stricken woman, who has lost all her hair as well as her husband.

For the first time in comedy mood since her local blockbuster, The One and Only (1999), Bier follows two Danish families who have gathered in Sorrento for a wedding. Cast also includes Christiane Schaumburg-Müller, Paprika Steen, Molly Egelind, Kim Bodnia and Sebastian Jessen.

Co-produced by former Lars von Trier-collaborator Vibeke Windeløv, All You Need Is Love is packaged with Zentropa’s subsidiaries in Sweden and Germany; Swedish regional film centre, Film i Väst; Italy’s Lumiere & Co, Teodora Film; and France’s Slot Machine and Liberator Productions.

Bier’s seventh feature, with an intrigue both for laughter and tears about love, passion and happiness in a world of jealousy and loneliness, will be domestically released on August 30, 2012, by Nordisk Film, which holds Scandinavian rights. International sales will be handled by Denmark’s TrustNordisk.
