Female footballers go big screen
Shooting began in March and is currently under way on 11 Freundinnen, by South Korea-born, Germany-raised and -based Sung-Hyung Cho. The director of the award-winning documentary Full Metal Village (2006) is now dealing with another burning issue - the film features the members of the women's national football team, who will have the chance of winning their third Women's World Cup, held in Germany (June 26-July 17, 2011).
11 Freundinnen is produced by Raimond Goebel for Pandora with the support of regional fund NRW (North Rhine-Westphalia), Hessen Invest Film, and national fund DFFF. NFP/Warner Bros will release the film in Germany on November 11th.
