(2008), about the personal and emotional consequences of a complicated father-son relationship, Florian Eichinger hopes to start shooting this autumn on the second part of his domestic violence-themed trilogy, Nordstrand, which won’t be set in the mountains this time but on a North Sea beach.

Penned by the director, the film’s screenplay has already received honours at national film events. It tells the story of two brothers, Marten and Volker, who are reunited after many years in their parents’ now empty house on the coast.

Older brother Marten would like to free their mother from the prison she has lived in since the death of their violent father, but Volker can’t forgive his brother or mother for the fact they didn’t protect him from the abuse committed by the head of the family.

Nordstrand will star Robert Gwisdek (Run If You Can), Martin Schleiß (Without You I’m Nothing) and Luise Berndt.

A crowdfunding initiative was launched on July 1 to make up the €30,000 budget shortfall needed to make the film, even though the project already has a producer (the director’s company Bergfilm Produktion), a distributor and backing. Until August 15, people can contribute to the financing of Nordstrand via the Internet. To find out more, click here.
