Bonham-Carter to receive BAFTA LA honour

The British Academy of Film and Television Arts Los Angeles (BAFTA LA) will honour BAFTA-winning actress Helena Bonham-Carter (Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2 [+see also:

) with the Britannia Award for British Artist of the Year at the 2011 BAFTA LA Britannia Awards on Wednesday 30 November.

The Britannia Awards are BAFTA LA’s highest accolade. Bonham-Carter joins the previously announced John Lasseter who will receive the Britannia Award for Worldwide Contribution to Filmed Entertainment, and David Yates, who will be honoured with the John Schlesinger Britannia Award for Excellence in Directing (see news).

BAFTA LA Chair Nigel Lythgoe said: “Helena Bonham-Carter is an actress of immense versatility, and her range across movies of all genres is at once remarkable and fearless. She unwaveringly maintains her integrity and, through her choice of roles, continually challenges both herself and her audiences' perception of her.”

Bonham-Carter recently earned an Oscar nod and a BAFTA win for her turn in 2010’s award winning The King’s Speech [+see also:

, directed by Tom Hooper, and she will play a central role in Mike Newell’s upcoming adaptation of Charles Dickens’ Great Expectations.
