Belgian titles out in force at Montreal World Film Fest
The 35th Montreal World Film Festival will run from August 18-28. Belgium will be strongly represented, with no fewer than six majority features and two co-productions in the programme.
In world competition, Canadian audiences will get the chance to discover intriguing film Hasta La Vista [+see also:

film profile]). The director has drawn inspiration from the true story of Asta Philpot (who was the subject of a documentary produced by the BBC) to recount the journey of three young disabled men who take to the road in the hope of finding love in Spain.
In the First Films World Competition are two Francophone productions. She Is Not Crying, She Is Singing [+see also:

film profile] marks the debut feature by Philippe de Pierpont, who is known for his documentary productions. It traces the harsh and upsetting process of realisation experienced by a young woman who is reconciled with her past at the bedside of a comatose incestuous father. The film is produced by Iota Production.
Also in the line-up is Living Afterwards, a debut feature produced by Hélicotronc and helmed by Géraldine Doignon. This is also a family drama about a widowed father who is no longer able to communicate with his three adult children.
Finally, the First Films World Competition will also show Bavo Defurne’s debut work, North Sea, Texas, a coming-of-age story based on a novel by André Sollie. It centres on Pim, who is neglected by his mother and discovers his preference for boys, and especially the ruggedly beautiful fearless motorcyclist Gino.
Out of competition, the festival will screen Only Son, the third (French-language) film by Flemish director Miel Van Hoogenbemt, which stages a clash between Laurent Capelluto and Patrick Chesnais, in an original father/son duel, as well as French co-productions His Mother’s Eyes [+see also:
