, Swedish actor Stellan Skarsgård will join the cast for Nymphomaniac – the depiction of a woman’s sexual life from birth till she is 50, which the Danish director will shoot from next summer.

Danish international sales agency, TrustNordisk, expects to have a script to show by early 2012, but has already sold the film to the UK (Artificial Eye), Benelux (Wild Bunch Benelux), Russia (Central Partnership), Poland (Gutek Film), Czech Republic (Aero Films) and ex-Yugoslavia (Insomnia World Sales).

According to Skarsgård, ”Stellan, my next movie is a porn movie, and I want you to play the lead,” was the director’s telephone approach to him about the role, assuring the actor that he would not be asked to actually ’screw’ in the €7-8 million epic.

Meanwhile Melancholia - which garnered US lead Kirsten Dunst a Best Actress award at Cannes – has taken more than 100,000 admissions in France and Russia; after four weeks it is still on the Top 20 chart in the Netherlands.

While the discussion of von Trier’s controversial remarks in Cannes, which officially made him a persona non grata at the festival is still news, the film will open in the UK (September 30), Germany (October 6), Spain (November 4), the US and Canada (November 11), and Australia (December 26).

Zentropa Entertainments, von Trier and Peter Aalbæk Jensen’s production outfit, last year posted a €2.3 million deficit, in the red for the third consecutive year.

According to Danish film magazine Ekko, the company has now had a helping cash induction: Danish former Dogme director Kristian Levring (The King Is Alive), now making commercials in London, has bought a €700,000 stake in Zentropa (which is 50% owned by Nordisk Film A/S).
