Archeo, A Trip share main prizes

At the 14th Festival of Slovenian Film in Portoroz (Sept 29 – Oct 1), Jan Cvitkovič’s Archeo [+see also:

won awards for best film, director and cinematography (for Jure Černec), while Nejc Gazvoda's A Trip [+see also:

took five official prizes.

A Trip, which world-premiered in Sarajevo, won Best Script for Gazvoda, Best Actor in a Leading Role for Jure Henigman, Best Actress in a Leading Role for Nina Rakovec, Best Editing for Gazvoda and Janez Lapajne, and Best Music for New Wave Syria. The film also received the critics' prize.

Klemen Dvornik's Bread and Circuses won Best Supporting Actor for Jonas Žnidaršič, Best Supporting Actress for Saša Pavček, Best Costume for Katja Hrobat, and the audience award.

Best Sound and Best Production Design went to Miha Hočevar’s short film Dad, Can I Drive for Julij Zornik and Duško Milavec respectively.

Miha Mazzini’s The Visit won Best Short Film, Metod Pevec’s The Alexandrians got Best Documentary, and Špela Čadež’s Last Minute received the Best Animated Film award. Best Student Film went to Dominic Mecej for Garbage Day.

Comedian and theatre actor Martin Marion won a special award for the best newcomer in for the main role in Andrej Košak’s State of Shock.

It was a strong year for Slovenian cinema with unprecedented seven features in competition. Besides the aforementioned films, the audience showed appreciation for Metod Pevec’s Good Night, Missy and Klemen Dvornik’s The Prepisani.
