They travel to the United States when their biological mother (Hunter) suddenly gets in touch with them and subsequently set out on a road trip with their enigmatic and not very well-adjusted parent.

The original screenplay was written by Marnie Blok and Karen van Holst, who also penned the adaptation of Beumer’s The Happy Housewife that also starred Carice van Houten.

Jeroen Spitzenberger, Elise Schaap, Hayo Bruins, Jaap Spijkers and Marcel Musters co-star in the film.

Hunter, who won an Oscar for her role in The Piano, was recently seen in the TV Series Saving Grace, while Carice van Houten recently wrapped work on the series Game of Thrones. Jelka appeared this year in the Dutch series Verborgen Gebreken.

The feature project starts shooting next week on location in New Mexico and will be produced by Dutch outfit Eyeworks, in association with Inspire Pictures.

Distributor Benelux Film Distributors expects to release the film 17 May, 2012.
