Luciana Castellina nominated officer des Arts et des Lettres

The French Minister for Culture Frédéric Mitterrand has nominated Luciana Castellina as officer of the Ordre des Arts et des Lettres (Order of Arts and Letters) in a ceremony held today at the French Academy in Rome.

The award, given out to important international figures over the years, was handed over to the honorary president of Cineuropa.org for her activity as an MEP, journalist and writer who has fought particularly hard for European cinema and cultural exception.

In his motivation, the Minister defined Luciana Castellina as "a great supporter of European films, of a variety of accounts, languages, ideoms and creations. The honour also wanted to reward "the battle for a common European culture", an effort already awarded in 2006 furing the Festival of San Sebastian.
